Job summary

Sargent Electric Company is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support electrical construction projects from our East Chicago office. This role ensures materials, equipment, and services are procured accurately, competitively, and on schedule.

Work closely with Project Managers, negotiate with suppliers, and track documentation to support project success and cost efficiency. This role requires strong organization, proactive collaboration, and experience in electrical procurement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing or project support experience in the electrical industry preferred.
• Experience with electrical materials, equipment, and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers to plan and execute purchasing strategies aligned with project estimates and timelines.
• Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to protect company interests.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals and make recommendations.
• Track and ensure timely receipt of contracts, insurance certificates, and required documentation.
• Coordinate with internal teams on equipment and material needs.
• Maintain accurate data in project and cost systems.
• Support cost control and estimating initiatives through accurate reporting and insights.
