Job summary

K2 Electric is seeking a Project Manager to drive construction projects toward financial goals, on-time schedules, and high customer satisfaction. You will oversee cost reporting, cash flow, safety, and team development, coordinating with field crews and clients to ensure scope alignment with contracts.

The role emphasizes leadership, cost control, and proactive communication with Owners and General Contractors, with responsibilities spanning cost analysis, change orders, and project governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Experience organizing data for leadership decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct PPM coordination meetings with management and field teams.
  • Analyze project scope and cost to identify savings and efficiencies.
  • Review prime contracts before signing.
  • Ensure field crews understand scope and RFIs in relation to plans.
  • Identify change orders and ensure capture of scope and cost.
  • Monitor material purchases for alignment with project scope.
  • Select subcontractors for each project.
  • Manage direct reports and coach performance; document progress.
  • Provide training needs and performance discussions with team members.
  • Help team solve problems and remove obstacles.
  • Review plans to ensure Project Engineers have accurate information.
  • Track project progress and engineer performance.
  • Maintain strong owner/GC relations to balance profitability with client satisfaction.
  • Immediately communicate schedule or budget impacts to customers.
  • Process change orders with clients and ensure timely billing.
  • Monitor subcontractor billings and cash flow implications.
  • Ensure safety is prioritized in all decisions.
  • Verify material quantities and code compliance; support value engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Ensure projects achieve financial goals. Ensure project schedules are met. Maximize customer satisfaction. Complete financial reporting and assist in managing cash flow. Ensure the safety of team members and customers.

HIGH PAYOFF ACTIVITIES
Ensure Projects Achieve Financial Goals
  • Work with PC to schedule and conduct PPM coordination meetings (Management & Field) based on standard format.
  • Perform a scope and cost analysis of the project estimate to identify deficiencies and areas for cost savings.
  • Review prime contract during contract review stage prior to signingK2 contract.
  • Ensure field crews understand the scope and RFIs of the project in relation to the contract and plans.
  • Identify change order scope and the most profitable approach. Ensure all change orders are captured.
  • Monitor purchase requests to ensure material complies with project scope.
  • Identify subcontractors to be used on each project.
Manage Direct Report(s) to Ensure Team Goals are Achieved
  • Identify/Update High Payoff Activities/Motivation Plans with Each Direct Report.
  • Provide Feedback on Performance and Coaching for Improvement and Motivation. Formalize/Document.
  • Identify and Address Training Needs for Each Direct Report(s). Teach Supers performance discussions.
  • Help Team Members Identify and Solve Problems.
Ensure Project Schedules are Met
  • Review contract plans and documents to ensure field crews have the required information and correct materials to complete the project.
  • Ensure Project Engineers are tracking their projects.
Maximize Customer Satisfaction
  • Maintain effective relations with the Owner and General Contractor, i.e. balance between achieving profitability while pleasing client/customer and getting new work.
  • Communicate immediately with the Customer regarding schedule impact and budget changes.
  • Work with K2 Team to ensure resolution of conflicts between field employees and customers.
Complete Financial Reporting
  • Verify Job Costing information documentation up to date to aid in Financial Analysis. Estimate stays accurate (labor tracking).
  • Perform Cost to Complete Analysis monthly.
  • Participate in recap meetings to review Cost to Complete Analysis.
Assist in Managing Company Cash Flow
  • Create and submit change orders by month end.
  • Work with PEs to follow up with client/customer to process change orders as needed.
  • Ensure Billing is at the Maximum Tolerable level and submitted on time including retention.
  • Work with PE to monitor subcontractor billings.
Ensure Safety of Team Members and Customers
  • Make Safety a priority in work-related decisions.
  • Identify and address Safety Violations. Use as a teaching tool.
OTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • All other tasks associated with project completion, i.e. verifying material quantities before ordering, code compliance, value engineering, subcontractor quotes and contracts, design modification consulting, monitor supplier performance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • 2+ years as a PE with a bachelor’s degree focused on construction management OR 4+ years as a PE with a career path working through the ranks as an Electrician (experience must be in commercial electrical construction projects)
  • Experience with organizing the appropriate data for key leadership decision making
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk for long hours when working in the office
  • Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity equipment
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds as needed in routine activities associated with position
  • Ability to wear PPE when working/visiting a project location
  • Ability to work in extreme heat when working/visiting a project location
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain when working/visiting a project location
