Overview
An established electrical construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of complex electrical construction projects spanning multiple sectors and lines of business. This role carries strategic responsibility for aligning project execution with organizational and financial goals, and is critical to ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
What you’ll do
- Manage a portfolio of complex projects across multiple sectors and lines of business
- Provide on-site leadership for project teams, building and motivating members to meet goals and milestones
- Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives
- Report on project success criteria, metrics, test and deployment management activities
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of construction cost-to-complete and project financial projections
- Accurately project costs broken down by phase code relating to materials and remaining labor hours
- Identify areas of scope creep to mitigate risk and exposure
- Identify and assemble design errors and project change orders, communicating these to the project team
- Successfully sell project change orders and increase margin
- Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
- Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to mature organizational capabilities
- Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project
- Coordinate with general superintendents and foremen to review revised labor hours and set completion expectations
- Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives within planned timeframes
- Manage day-to-day project activities and resources, communicating requirements and impacts with the Vice President of Construction
- Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
- Provide status reporting on milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues to leadership
- Follow detailed processes for project execution while working with the Vice President to analyze process adherence
- Support solutions that address client goals while maintaining alignment with code requirements
- Act as an internal quality control check for the project
- Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
- Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation as needed
- Support formal and informal schedules to manage the engagement contract
- Understand project specifications for installation and ensure the project team understands requirements
- Develop and manage all aspects of projects including planning, vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
- Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project and program teams
- Deliver effective executive-level communication
- Ensure projects and programs proceed according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Conduct research into project-related issues and products
- Learn, understand, and apply new technologies

Required qualifications
- Excellent experience in the electrical construction industry
- 5+ years of experience with full product lifecycle and understanding of development lifecycle and technology methodologies supporting that lifecycle
- Maintains CT journeymen or master electrical license(s)
- Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills, including the ability to lead up and across organizational verticals
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
- Ability to build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives
- Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
- Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Project Sight, Procore, and Blue Beam
- Experience negotiating with vendors and subcontractors
- Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary
- Experience successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule, and within-budget completion
- Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding teams accountable for performance
- Strong experience presenting and demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral, with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of management
- Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff
- Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Preferred qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in a project management role preferred
