Job summary

HDR Newark is seeking an Electrical Project Manager to lead delivery of Electrical and SCADA upgrades for heavy movable structures, tunnels and transportation facilities. The role focuses on planning, design support, construction and commissioning with frequent cross‑functional coordination.

Ideal candidates have a PMP certification, strong communication, and at least 7 years of related experience, with a preference for local candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Strong cross‑functional communication and organization skills; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline projects or large, routine projects.
  • Independently coordinate work of professional staff and balance team throughout entire project's development.
  • Establish client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for compliance.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff.
  • Coordinate workload through entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
  • Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

HDR is looking for an Electrical Project Manager whose experience focuses on delivery of Electrical and SCADA systems upgrade for Heavy Movable Structures, Tunnels and various transportation facilities. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in successfully delivering Electrical and SCADA systems upgrades projects ranging from upfront planning and pre-design activities through detail design, construction support and commissioning. Keen focus on organizational skills and follow-through is required to be successful in this role. Some travel to client sites or other HDR offices may be required.

In the role of Electrical Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications
  • A license/certification PMP certification
  • Experience working on SCADA systems for water/wastewater facilities
  • Preference is given to local candidates

  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
