Job summary

PacRim Engineering Inc. (PacRim) is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team of managers, engineers, and designers delivering electrical design services across DoD, government, and private sectors.

The role focuses on electrical service design, power distribution, and project documentation, with an emphasis on accuracy and collaboration. California PE license required; DoD/Navy project experience a plus. Flexible work-from-home options available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET) is required.
  • PE License in California is required.
  • 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree desirable.
  • Experience with DoD/Navy projects is a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design electric services for military and government facilities.
  • Develop lighting and power designs, site power design and planning.
  • Prepare Basis of Design (BOD) and PS&E, cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with team members; provide directions and client interactions.
  • Review drawings and calculations; assist in construction support.

We are looking to hire an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join our team of managers, engineers, and designers, representing the industry's top talent.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position performs general electrical engineering work under the direct supervision of a project manager for clients the company serves in various markets. The position will apply fundamental engineering training, knowledge, and experience to deliver independently prepared and completed tasks and projects including engineering studies and site assessment and investigation reports; power distribution calculations for voltage drop, switchboards, panel boards, transformers, wire and cable tray sizing, conduit fill, and Ampere Interrupting Capacity; electrical designs of most elements of a project; preparation of Basis of Design (BOD); preparation of fully designed plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E), and other engineering reports, cost estimates, and construction support. The position will coordinate with other team members, provide directions to others, participate in planning tasks, prepare budget/project schedules, and partake in clients/team interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designing electric services for military and government facilities, industrial, commercial, and educational construction projects.
  • Developing lighting and power designs, site power design and planning, and emergency power design.
  • Designing new or renovating office buildings, retail stores, industrial buildings, manufacturing and assembly plants, schools, medical and healthcare facilities, DoD and public agency operations and maintenance facilities, utilities, pump and lift stations, SCADA/Telemetry and others.
  • Designing power distribution and sub-transmission equipment, equipment configurations.
  • Performing electrical design involving high and low voltages.
  • Performing both power demand and fault current calculations.
  • Utility coordination.
  • Preparing cost estimations.
  • Permit processing.
  • Construction support.
  • Performing reviews for drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications by others.
  • Working as owners’ representative in review and approval process.
Qualifications
  • Team leadership.
  • Skills in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Bluebeam and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • MicroStation, MS Project.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare engineering reports with the guidance of a project manager or senior individual.
  • Preferred knowledge of public works and DoD agency processes.
Education & Experience
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college (ABET) is required.
  • A Master’s degree desirable.
  • 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • PE License (in California) required.
  • Experience working with DoD agencies like the Navy will be considered a plus.
