Job summary

The Project Engineer will interface with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, coordinate submittals and RFIs, and help manage budget, schedule, and quality. A Bachelor’s degree and MS Office proficiency are required; OSHA compliant physical work is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management/engineering or equivalent combination of construction/engineering office experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on frequent basis; able to perform physical labor per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager with the successful management of commercial mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects.
  • Assist PM to ensure project construction aligns with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Interface with client representatives, subcontractors, vendors, and others.
  • Review, select, and submit project documents (submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, subcontracts, manuals) with PM.
  • Provide field employees with necessary support to complete projects promptly.
  • Assist PM with change orders and extra work estimating.
  • Assist PM with equipment releases and tracking.
  • Support project meetings and document outcomes.
  • Serve as liaison between trades and other company departments.
  • Distribute and respond to punch list items in writing; follow up as needed.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assess productivity, material usage, and contractor performance.
  • Gain industry knowledge to provide technical assistance on drawings, construction methods, and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in the successful management of commercial mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects, while gaining skills and experience needed to become a Project Manager.
  • Assist Project Manager (PM) with total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design specifications, budget and schedule.
  • Interface with client representatives, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
  • Review, select, and submit project documents in collaboration with PM and project supervision and in accordance with the construction schedule (Ex. Submittals, shop drawings, RFI’s, subcontracts, operation and maintenance manuals, etc.).
  • Provide field employees with the necessary support to allow the project to be completed expeditiously.
  • Assist PM in extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
  • Assist PM with equipment releases and tracking.
  • Support construction project meeting attendance and documentation.
  • Act as liaison between trades and other departments within the company.
  • Distribute, follow up, and respond in writing to all punch list items in a timely manner.
  • Conduct on site visits to gain field experience required to ascertaining productivity of trades, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Gain industry knowledge to provide technical assistance and support, i.e., engineering, interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Participate in weekly staff and project management meetings.
  • Perform additional tasks assignments per PM and Regional Manager’s direction to support branch and company operational efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management/engineering or equivalent combination of previous construction and/or engineering office related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
