Job description

New Haven County, Connecticut | No Sponsorship | No Relocation Assistance

Are you an Electrical Engineer who wants to do more than maintain existing designs? Do you enjoy solving challenging electrical problems, selecting components, developing schematics, and seeing your engineering work come to life on the manufacturing floor and in the field?

I'm recruiting an Electrical Project Engineer for an established industrial equipment manufacturer seeking a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of projects, make sound technical decisions, and deliver reliable solutions. This is an opportunity to work with sophisticated, high-power industrial systems and contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept and design through manufacturing, installation, and customer support.

If you combine solid electrical engineering fundamentals with project management experience and a practical, get-it-done mindset, this opportunity deserves your attention.

What You'll Do
  • Design and support equipment from 100 kW to 2 MW.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Select and specify electrical components, including relays, circuit breakers, motor drives, and related equipment.
  • Drive engineering projects from initial concept through detailed design, manufacturing, installation, and ongoing support.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, and service teams to keep projects moving forward.
  • Apply NEC requirements, industrial wiring practices, and applicable electrical standards to ensure safe, reliable designs.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges, prepare engineering documentation, and support equipment installations at customer locations.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of project management experience.
  • 3+ years selecting electrical components, including relays, circuit breakers, and motor drives.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, electrical wiring standards, and NEC requirements.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally and work reasonable overtime as needed.
Why Consider This Role?
  • Real engineering ownership: Contribute to projects from design through implementation.
  • Technical variety: Work with complex, high-power industrial equipment rather than repetitive, narrowly defined assignments.
  • Cross-functional visibility: Work directly with engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Professional growth: Expand your technical capabilities while developing your project leadership experience.
  • Competitive benefits and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • No relocation assistance is available. Candidates must be local to the New Haven County, CT area or already able to commute to the worksite.
  • Occasional customer-site travel is required.

I'm looking for an engineer who can connect electrical design expertise with practical execution—someone who understands the details, takes ownership, and gets projects across the finish line.

Your next opportunity should be more than another job. Let's determine whether this one makes sense for you.
