Job summary

Stratus is seeking an Electrical Project Designer in New York, NY for a full-time role focused on electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm systems in building projects. The candidate will survey existing systems, perform energy calculations, and review contractor work alongside the Project Manager.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), 2–4 years in electrical/building design, knowledge of NYC codes and NFPA standards, and the ability to travel across five boroughs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant work experience.
• 2–4 years of electrical engineering or building design experience.
• Knowledge of NY building codes and NFPA 70/72.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm distribution systems for new construction.
• Perform short circuit, coordination, load/arc flash studies.
• Review contractor work and prepare summary documentation.
• Draft schematic and construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and vendors.
