Job summary

Stratus seeks an Electrical Project Designer in Manhattan, NY to design electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm systems for new construction and renovations. The role includes field surveys, energy calculations, and coordinating with other disciplines to ensure code-compliant project deliverables.

The designer will draft construction documents with AutoCAD and Revit, review contractor work, and navigate NYC codes and NFPA standards while supporting project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or applicable work experience.
• 2–4 years of electrical design experience for buildings and/or related projects.
• Understanding of NYC codes, NFPA 70 and NFPA 72; knowledge of compliance requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within NYC.
• Ability to navigate urban, rural, and industrial sites and work in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm distribution systems for new construction and renovations.
• Perform short circuit, coordination, load/arc flash studies, and lighting calculations.
• Review ongoing contractor work and prepare summary documentation for PM review.
• Draft construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit; collaborate with other disciplines.
