Electrical Preconstruction Manager

Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $130,000–$160,000 | On-Site | 20–30% Travel

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP design phase efforts for electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring constructability and efficiency from concept through implementation.
• Partner with project managers and operations teams to integrate design strategies into construction projects.
• Mentor preconstruction/design phase staff and provide technical guidance for complex systems.
• Develop and review project documentation, submittals, and specifications for electrical and low‑voltage systems.
• Participate in estimating, scheduling, partner selection, and quality control planning.
• Facilitate coordination between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to maintain alignment with project goals.
• Support commissioning planning and implement design solutions that optimize constructability and project outcomes.
• Work with operations and engineering teams to support the development and implementation of innovative construction products and systems used on active projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 8–15 years of experience in electrical construction, project management, or preconstruction leadership.
• Proven ability to lead preconstruction and design phase efforts for large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
• Experience supporting mission‑critical, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or data center projects is highly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and design‑build processes.
• Experience coordinating design efforts utilizing BIM, VDC, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar construction technologies.
• Ability to travel 20–30% to project sites while collaborating effectively across multiple teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
