Electrical Power Engineer III
Acutronic is looking for an Electrical Power Engineer III within Acutronic’s Aerospace Components Division. The engineer will have broad hands‑on responsibility for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from proposal through qualification testing and production support, influencing power circuit development and advancing Acutronic Aerospace Components in the marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed electrical design and development of power systems for product lines: Actuation Systems, Turbo Generators, Power Generation, Conversion, and Distribution, Micro‑thrust Turbines.
- Support proposal efforts: assess customer system‑level requirements, develop derived requirements, produce requirements compliance matrix, generate engineering models, contribute to cost estimates and project schedules.
- Develop detailed power system performance models using MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent.
- Design and develop power electronic hardware cradle to grave: component selection, schematic capture, simulation, PCB layout, analyses for motor control, active rectification, DC‑DC conversion, 3‑phase, distribution.
- Integrate sensors for closed‑loop control: resolver, VDT, pressure, current, HED; analog front‑end conditioning.
- Assist in designing and developing firmware and software to support power systems.
- Hands‑on bring up, integration, troubleshooting of power generation systems.
- Design and develop test stands, fixtures, procedures for validation/verification of power systems for embedded electronics.
- Perform validation and verification of product requirements.
- Prepare documentation for customer and internal deliverables (reports, presentations).
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering (required); Master’s preferred.
- At least eight years of experience designing and developing motor controls, electromechanical control systems, power conditioning and distribution systems (2+kW).
- Experience with firmware navigation in power electronic systems, failure investigation and RCCA, safety and reliability assessment (MTBF/FTA), aerospace configuration management.
- Prior experience in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment preferred.
