Position Summary

This technician will support OEM startup, commissioning, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting activities involving low- and medium-voltage electrical power-distribution equipment. The position will primarily serve customers throughout Florida, with occasional travel outside the state for large outages and other major projects. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded electrical testing technician with strong protective-relay capabilities, good computer skills, and the ability to work independently in customer-facing field environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform startup, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on electrical power-distribution equipment rated from 208 V through 38 kV.
  • Support low- and medium-voltage switchgear, UL 891 switchboards, MCCs, VFDs, panelboards, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, power meters, and associated control systems.
  • Tests, troubleshoot, configure, and verify protective relays and related control circuits.
  • Review relay settings, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.

  • Coordinate field activities with OEM representatives, customers, contractors, project managers, and other technicians.
  • Provide professional technical guidance and clear communication to customers during startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting assignments.
  • Follow Infinity TSD safety procedures, customer requirements, manufacturer instructions, and applicable industry testing practices.
  • Support NETA acceptance-testing and maintenance-testing projects based on the technician’s experience and continued training.
Protective Relay Responsibilities

Protective-relay testing and troubleshooting will be an important part of this position. Candidates should have experience with—or a strong interest and demonstrated ability to learn—the following:

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn multiple testing, configuration, and reporting applications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic test-report documentation.
  • Ability to organize assignments, manage documentation, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% based on project requirements.
  • Ability to travel throughout Florida and occasionally outside the state for large outages or project work.
  • Availability to work extended hours, nights, or weekends when required by outage, startup, or emergency-service schedules.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
