Job summary

AFC Industries in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Shop Technician to join our team. This hands-on role builds electrical control panels and hydraulic/pneumatic assemblies, reads schematics and BOMs, and learns unfamiliar systems.

You will coordinate with sales and operations to meet delivery schedules, troubleshoot panels, and maintain quality. The position offers full-time hours, a competitive hourly wage, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

1-3 years of electrical control panel assembly and/or hydraulic experience preferred.
Strong background in Point to Point and Functional Testing a plus.
Ability to understand and work from technical schematics.
Have or Learn Basic computer skills: MS Office, ERP, Scheduling Tools
High School Graduate or equivalent - related Technical Degree a plus
Ability to lift 50lbs and all physical requirements associated with Panel Building

Responsibilities

Follow electrical and hydraulic schematics / drawings to assemble industrial electrical panels and hydraulic power units.
Layout wireway, din rail & components in accordance with drawings.
Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures.
Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.
Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation.
Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.
Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.
Problem-solve technical issues.
Inspect orders when they are complete.
Maintain shop tools and supplies and perform other duties as assigned or as needed
