SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Facilities Electrical Protection & Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain electrical protection and control systems for power distribution and substation automation. The role requires deep expertise in protection schemes, relay settings, arc flash analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.

Competenze

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; five years of protected & control experience.
Proficient with ETAP or similar software; knowledge of DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850/GOOSE.
Experience with substation protection, relay programming, and arc flash analysis.

Mansioni

Lead protection and control design for electrical substations and power distribution.
Perform power system studies: short circuit, coordination, arc flash using ETAP/PSCAD.
Develop protection settings and logic for microprocessor relays; review as-left files.
Analyze faults and relay mis-operations; report to stakeholders with root causes.
Collaborate with design engineers, project teams, and maintenance to support projects.
