Job summary

Applied Research Laboratories on the Pickle Research Campus seeks an Electrical/Mechanical Technician TSA III to support prototyping, fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of ruggedized systems for defense-related SISL work.

Responsibilities include MIL-SPEC cable/fiber assembly, testing and repair, cable harness fabrication, labeling, and documentation with hand and machine tools; travel of ~10% may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Two years of experience in the skilled construction and maintenance of electromechanical equipment using hand and machine tools.
• Knowledge of screws, nuts, bolts, fasteners, & materials.
• Knowledge of assembly and various machining techniques.
• Must be self-motivated and able to self-pace to complete job in time allowed.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven ability to listen, remember both written and verbal directions, and consistently apply those instructions to your work.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication of MIL-SPEC cable and fiber assemblies based on drawings and instructions.
• Testing, troubleshoot and repair of electromechanical assemblies and MIL-SPEC cables.
• Fabrication of cable harness and protectors per technical instructions.
• Labelling of cables based on data and instructions.
• Fabrication of electromechanical assemblies using hand and machine tools.
• Identify and consult potential issues on technical drawings to complete fabrication.
• Identify parts, supplies, and tools needed to complete fabrication and assembly.
• Prepare and maintain quality and assembly documentation/work instructions.
• Maintain and manage inventory and workspace.
• Assist Engineers during field repairs, diagnosis, and upgrades.
• Other related functions as assigned.

Purpose

Support advanced prototyping, fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of ruggedized systems in defense-related applications for the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).

Responsibilities

• Fabrication of Military Specification (MIL-SPEC) cable and fiber assemblies based on technical drawings and instructions, including soldering, crimping, polishing, etc.
• Testing, troubleshoot and repair of electromechanical assemblies, and Military Specification (MIL-SPEC) cable and fiber assemblies based on technical drawings and instructions
• Fabrication of cable harness and protectors, e.g., braided sleeves, spiral wrap, based on technical instructions
• Labelling of cables based on technical data and instructions, including creation and application of the labels to the cables
• Fabrication of electromechanical assemblies using hand and machine tools
• Identify and consult any potential issues on technical drawings in order to complete fabrication and assembly
• Identify parts, supplies, and tools needed to complete fabrication and assembly
• Prepare and maintain accurate quality and assembly documentation/work instructions
• Maintain and manage inventory while maintaining an organized workspace area as required.
• Assist Engineers during field repairs, diagnosis, and/or upgrades
• Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.

• Knowledge of assembly and various machining techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of computer electronics, wiring/cabling, soldering, and reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, test, and troubleshoot system level and component level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and document findings.
• Experience with inventory control procedures and supporting software tools.
• Excellent planning/organizational skills and success in a dynamic customer service environment.
• Ability to perform on-site installation, troubleshooting, and repair of cable and fiber assemblies, and electrical and mechanical assemblies.
• Completion of continuing education/certification in electronics or machining.
• Previous experience operating a forklift.

Salary Range

$45,000-$49,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications.
