Job summary

Penn State University in State College, PA, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist to support R&D in the Electrical Materials and Devices Department (EMDD) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL). This on-site role focuses on electronic materials processing, testing/characterization, semiconductor device fabrication, and materials growth/synthesis.

You will prepare samples, manage material inventory, polish substrates, configure furnaces and vacuum systems, run processes,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background in sample preparation and materials characterization.
Strong safety practices and PPE knowledge; chemical handling and waste disposal.

Responsibilities

Sample preparation and material processing.
Prepare material for processing and manage inventory.
Polish substrates/films/materials; configure furnaces/reactors and vacuum systems.
Run furnaces/reactors and monitor growth/synthesis processes.
Collect, analyze, and distribute data in summaries.
Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
Input on processing conditions; ensure safe operation.
Mentor other Engineering support staff.
