Job description

ICON is seeking aElectrical Manufacturing Engineer to drive the development and implementation of world-class manufacturing processes for our cutting-edge construction technologies. This role is critical to ensuring our products are built safely, efficiently, and at scale, meeting the highest standards of quality, certification, and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on electrical manufacturing experience, deep process and data fluency, and cross-functional collaboration skills. You'll work across mechanical and electrical systems, leading initiatives in quality control, process optimization, and configuration management that will shape ICON's next generation of products. This role is based at ICON's Austin, TX campus and will report to our Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manufacturing Process & Quality

  • Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes that support scalability, efficiency, and repeatability across Titan printer and MCU production phases
  • Develop and manage critical quality systems-including NRTL and CE certifications-ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards at all manufacturing stages
  • Implement poka-yoke controls and data-driven approaches to process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
  • Provide floor-level support for assembly, test, and validation activities-including hands-on root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

Electrical Assembly & Integration

  • Lead electrical assembly and wiring of Titan printer and MCU builds across DVT and production phases
  • Interpret and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and connector maps
  • Install, route, and terminate cable harnesses, power distribution panels, and control system wiring
  • Coordinate with mechanical assembly teams on wire management, chassis cutouts, and interface hardware

Test & Validation

  • Execute Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures covering electrical continuity, power-on, motor drive verification, sensor calibration, and E-stop function
  • Support functional checkout of 480V three-phase power distribution, 24VDC control circuits, and CAN/Ethernet network communications
  • Operate bench test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, insulation testers) and interpret results
  • Document test results, non-conformances, and first-pass yield data in Jira and production traveler systems
  • Participate in failure analysis on field returns-trace root cause to component, wiring, or procedural sources

Process Documentation & Tooling

  • Develop and refine manufacturing electrical test fixtures, breakout boards, and harness verification jigs
  • Write and maintain work instructions for recurring electrical assembly tasks, written for technician execution; flag and redline discrepancies between drawings and physical builds
  • Manage and maintain complex Bills of Materials (BOMs), process routings, and manufacturing documentation
  • Collaborate with supply chain on component BOM accuracy, approved vendor lists, and incoming inspection criteria

New Product Introduction & Engineering Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional NPI efforts with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure seamless transition from prototype to full-scale production
  • Partner with product and process engineers to evaluate manufacturability during early design phases and standardize assembly processes across product lines
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR, build reviews) with a manufacturing lens-flag producibility and testability gaps
  • Oversee ECRs and ECOs; submit and track wiring changes while maintaining Duro BOM accuracy for electrical assemblies

Facilities, Tooling & Capacity

  • Contribute to facility layout planning, tooling design, capacity modeling, and equipment selection to support long-term manufacturing scalability
  • Support capital planning for electrical test equipment, panel fabrication, and production tooling

Team Development

  • Mentor and support electrical technicians during production ramp
