The Hershey CompanyMemphis plant is a Non-Union plant producing products such as Ice Breakers, Breath Savers, and Good & Plenty, in a high-speed complex environment.


Pay:

  • Starting Payrate: $38.40per hour
  • $1.00 per hour shift premium for hours worked on 2nd or 3rd shift.

Shifts:

  • We require that you are flexible to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
  • Schedule assignments upon hire aredetermined by plant needs.
  • Regular schedule is 8-hour shifts, Mandatory overtime could be weekly (scheduled for up to 12 hours/day, Monday through Sunday), daily (additional 4 hours on your 8-hour shift) and weekends (8 to 12-hour shifts).

Summary:

The primary role and responsibility of theMaintenance Technician IIIis to provide mechanical and electrical support to the business units in maintaining, optimizing, assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and systems. The Tech III will also mentor and train Tech II, Tech I, and operators in troubleshooting and optimizing equipment and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Electrical:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of basic electricity and electronics.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70-E
  • Demonstrate ability to properly identify, select, and operate electrician's tools.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of occupation-specific safety standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret diagrams, manuals, schematics or blueprints
  • Demonstrate ability to plan layout of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures consistent with specifications and local codes..
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare sketches of location of wiring and equipment or follow blueprints/diagrams to determine location of equipment and conformance of safety codes.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduits.
  • Demonstrate ability to construct and fabricate other electrical parts, using hand tools and specifications.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, outlets, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Demonstrate proper technique used to pull wire through an electrical conduit.
  • Demonstrate proper technique used to splice wires.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify, select, and operate electrician's testing equipment, such as ohmmeters, ammeters, voltmeters, and continuity testers.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, thermostats, intercoms, signaling systems, power equipment, or other components.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques used to connect power cables to equipment, such as electric ranges or motors, and to install grounding leads.
  • Demonstrate proper technique used to check circuit connections to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and make changes to PLC programs.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of local area networks and PLC systems in the field of industrial controls.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot AC & DC vector-type spindle drives, AC & DC servo axis drives, AC VFD and pulse width modulation (PWM) drives.
  • Demonstrate ability to use control circuits, ladder logic, and Boolean logic.

Mechanical:

  • Demonstrate ability to install and troubleshoot mechanical components including fasteners, power belting, pulleys, chain drives, shafting, dynamic shaft seals, sliding, ball, and roller bearings, lubricants, couplings, clutches, gear drives, speed reducers, and conveyor drive systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to install and operate hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrate an understanding of industrial machines and mechanical components.
  • Demonstrate the theory, operation, installation, alignment, maintenance and troubleshooting of conveyors.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot AC motors and control circuits.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot various hydraulic and pneumatic valves, pumps, cylinders, filtering, and hose fittings.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot centrifugal pumps, multi-stage pumps, peristaltic, diaphragm, piston and gear pumps.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of industrial piping. Including iron pipe, steel tubing, hydraulic hoses, plastic pipes, copper tubing, globe, gate, check and Sloan valves.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC systems. Including pressure/temperature regulator gauges, valves, tanks and pumps.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot steam systems. Including knowledge of boiler systems and heat exchangers.
  • Can effectively observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards, defects, and need for adjustments, relocation, replacement, or repair.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus and components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, and fixtures.
  • Demonstrate ability to make changes in parts of circuits to improve performance of equipment.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with SAP to process work orders or other documentation critical to equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Communicate with others to ensure maintenance and repairs meet operational needs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and participating in daily pass down discussions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Communicate with others to ensure maintenance and repairs meet operational needs.


Education:

Associate degree or higher preferred - or equivalent hands on technical experience of 5 plus years in a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance, electrical, and / or technical experience required.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Autonomous Maintenance, and TPM preferred
  • Experience with SAP-PM or another CMMS preferred
  • Practical knowledge and relevant experience in a Food production environment is a plus
  • Experience using precision instruments in either metric or English measurement systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving technics
  • Experience in reading schematics, prints, and electrical drawings.
