PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, apparatus, and electrical/electronic components of industrial machinery. This role uses man lifts, forklifts, hoists, and electrical testing equipment as required to support safe and reliable plant operations. This role will also be responsible for mechanical work as assigned. This individual is expected to perform as a skilled maintenance professional with the ability to analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

C ompensation & Incentives
  • Hourly Rate: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience level
  • Shift Differential:$2.00/hour
  • Sign-On Bonus: $3,000
    • $1,500 after 90 days
    • $1,500 after 180 days

Span of Control : No direct reports

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
    • Take personal ownership and follow all safety rules, procedures, environmental requirements, and compliance standards for working safely each day and hold team members to the same high standards
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure work areas are clean and orderly after each job is completed.
  • Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant electrical and electronic systems.
    • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, including transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays, switches, position-sensing devices, and related components.
    • Perform motor control and power circuit troubleshooting, including fuse sizing, motor amp readings, and basic DC motor control.
    • Troubleshoot AC, DC, servo drive systems, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
    • Understand and troubleshoot burner systems, control loops, IM/APC systems, and weight control equipment.
    • Apply knowledge of grounding, shielding, and electrical noise mitigation practices.
    • Utilize basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems to support equipment reliability.
    • Serve as the lead resource for electrical downtime troubleshooting and repair.
  • Technical Knowledge & Reliability
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&ID drawings, and technical documentation.
    • Apply knowledge of industrial electrical codes, local compliance requirements, motor theory, wire sizing, thermal overload protection, and electrical best practices.
    • Monitor critical motors and electrical equipment to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize performance.
    • Lead or support electrical root cause analysis activities to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
    • Develop, implement, and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for motors, panels, drives, and other critical electrical assets.
    • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and overall plant performance.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Automation, Controls & Documentation
    • Maintain plant-required electrical records, reports, drawings, PLC programs, PanelView programs, drive files, and motor data.
    • Ensure current versions of PLC, HMI, drive, and automation programs are properly maintained and backed up.
    • Serve as the owner of electrical drawings, updates, and technical documentation.
    • Act as the maintenance technical lead for automation projects and electrical control systems.
    • Communicate effectively with external technical resources, vendors, and support partners as needed.
  • Lead maintenance-responsible electrical projects, equipment installations, and system upgrades.
  • Coordinate work activities with contractors and outside service providers.
  • Support and deliver electrical skills training for maintenance employees.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of plant electrical training programs.
  • Attend required training on emerging electrical, automation, and PLC technologies to maintain technical proficiency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • PLC training or demonstrated PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, motors, drives, and control circuits preferred.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including use of required tools, equipment, and PPE.
  • Industrial maintenance electrical experience.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Experience supporting preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
