Job summary

North Star BlueScope Steel is seeking an Electrical Technician to maintain and repair production equipment in our Ohio facility. You will develop maintenance programs to ensure reliability and lead cost optimization while maximizing equipment availability and safety.

Key duties include troubleshooting electrical control systems, PLC-based diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and coordination with plant personnel.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
3+ years in industrial electrical maintenance with hydraulics and pneumatics.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Strong electrical knowledge (circuit breakers and fixtures).
PLC experience, preferably Allen Bradley.
Experience with SLC 500, RSLogix 5/500/5000, PLC5, ControlLogix, Mircologix, PanelView systems.
Strong communication skills to explain complex electrical issues.
Physically demanding work including climbing, bending and lifting.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems for all manufacturing equipment.
Troubleshoot machine malfunctions using electronic and PLC techniques.
Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
Study equipment manuals to develop audit items and preventive maintenance schedules.
Install or assist in installing new equipment with proper layout and alignment.
Conduct preventive maintenance checks and inspections on time.
Identify, research, and present solutions to control problems and continuous improvement projects.
