Job summary

O-I in Auburn, NY seeks an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance staff across plant electrical, control and automation systems, and to support the Plant Engineer with preventive maintenance and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a strong Electrician or Electronic Tech background in an industrial setting, hands-on PLC and drive experience, and familiarity with SAP and Lean Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; engineering degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
• Glass industry experience is highly preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Direct preventive maintenance programs and inspections.
• Oversee changes or upgrades to plant systems and equipment.

Job Description

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor assists the Plant Engineer in leading and directing salaried and hourly personnel engaged in all phases of the plant engineering function (General Maintenance, Cold End Mechanization, and the Batch and Furnace department). This includes installation, repair and maintenance of all plant systems, equipment, grounds and facilities. Supports compliance efforts with local, state and federal regulations concerning environmental affairs, OSHA, NFPA, and other governing agencies.

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor will:

• Assist in directing preventive maintenance programs
• Conducts periodic inspections of all plant systems, equipment, facilities and grounds. Assists in implementing corrective actions when necessary. Oversees all changes or upgrades.
• Responsible for the quality of all work performed by maintenance and production employees assigned to the Electrical / Electronic Technician group.
• Coordinates and supervises all construction and service work performed by outside contractors as directed.
• Assists in overseeing health and safety issues affecting ergonomic factors
• Supervises training of personnel to ensure all electricians and electronic techs are properly trained to perform all aspects of their roles, while ensuring efficiency and high standards are maintained
• Communicates and directs the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations
• Ensures correct use of safety equipment and that company safety policies are followed
• May oversee parts of our plant apprenticeship program

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor should have:

• Strong maintenance background as an Electrician or Electronic Tech in an industrial environment
• In depth knowledge of Plant Electrical Systems, Control Systems, PLCs, AC Motor Drives, Robots and/or Quality Inspection Systems and Hot End Electronics
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles, while developing a continuous improvement culture that involves all relevant hourly and salaried personnel
• Experience with maintenance management software (preferably SAP)
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization

This position reports directly to the Plant Engineer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or additional training (college, military, apprenticeship programs, etc.) is preferred
• Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
• Glass industry experience is highly preferred
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $90 ,000 - $115,000 and includes a possible 12 % short-term incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
