Job summary

Shaw Industries in Aiken, SC is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to lead approximately 8 hourly maintenance associates and supervise day-to-day electrical work orders across plant systems. You will coordinate with the Plant Engineer and Production leadership to maximize equipment uptime while ensuring safety and compliant documentation.

The role emphasizes TPM/Lean practices, arc flash safety, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2+ years manufacturing maintenance experience required.
  • Knowledge in electrical maintenance technologies including power transmission, motor control, equipment control, PLCs, and process instrumentation.
  • Able to manage others in an inclusive and respectful manner.
  • Good reading comprehension, writing skills, and practical and business math with both metric and standard measurements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of Shaw associates.
  • Able to negotiate with vendors and oversee on-site contract workers.
  • Knowledge of TPM and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Technical 2 or 4 year degree in engineering or a maintenance related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises electrical maintenance personnel responsible for plant electrical systems, power distribution equipment, controls, utilities electrical systems, and production support equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance and reliability of electrical systems associated with HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, chillers, transformers, and plant utilities infrastructure.
  • Coordinates daily work assignments for shift and first shift electricians based on skill level, workload balance, equipment priority, and production needs.
  • Coordinates with vendors and contractors performing electrical maintenance, testing, installations, and repairs on plant equipment.
  • Ensures contractor compliance with all plant safety requirements including electrical safety procedures, permits, and documentation.
  • Maintains and administers the plant Arc Flash Program in accordance with NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Ensures all electrical equipment is properly labeled with current arc flash hazard information.
  • Coordinates arc flash studies and labeling updates for new or modified electrical equipment.
  • Ensures proper electrical PPE is available and utilized for all electrical work.
  • Coordinates annual transformer oil analysis and any required follow-up testing for plant transformers.
  • Provides technical input to the Plant Engineer and department managers regarding electrical system modifications, upgrades, troubleshooting, and equipment procurement.
  • Conducts proficiency and safety training for electrical personnel.
  • Supervises maintenance personnel under immediate jurisdiction including attendance tracking, overtime distribution, performance management, and enforcement of positive discipline.
  • Ensures materials, spare parts, tools, and equipment are available to support maintenance and installation requirements.
  • Implements and supports Total Productive Reliability (TPR) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance programs are properly executed and documented.
  • Reviews and monitors work order completion accuracy, labor tracking, and maintenance documentation.
  • Participates in equipment improvement teams and reliability initiatives.
  • Fulfills the requirements of a Shaw Certified Project Manager (CPM) in accordance with project Standard Practice Instructions (SPI).
  • Administers policy in accordance with the Shaw Employee Guide.
  • Administers annual authorized SAFE training requirements including Arc Flash, Hoisting & Rigging, Confined Space, Hot Work, Critical Lifts, and Fall Protection.
  • Conducts or coordinates weekly departmental safety meetings.
  • Ensures all plant rules, OSHA regulations, and electrical safety procedures are consistently followed.
  • Maintains housekeeping and 5S standards within electrical maintenance areas and equipment rooms.
  • Coordinates overtime assignments equitably based on qualifications, workload, and operational needs.
  • Comply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.
  • Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Plant Engineer.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to supervise approximately 8 hourly Maintenance associates. The Maintenance Electrical Supervisor handles the day-to-day tasks associated with work orders for electrical and PDM associates.
