Job summary

West Fraser in Jefferson, TX is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to maintain the facility's safety and machinery, coordinate with area managers, and prioritize issues to meet company needs.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, be self-directed, and be confident in their decision-making abilities, with experience in electrical fundamentals, PLCs, and preventative maintenance planning.

Qualifications

• BS Degree with 5+ years of manufacturing experience or 10 years of manufacturing management experience.
• Background in Electrical fundamentals.
• Must have knowledge in 3 phase and single-phase power distribution systems, motor controls, wiring, and troubleshooting of such systems.
• Experience with 480-volt power and logic circuits;Experience working with high and low voltages.
• Familiar with Allen Bradley products, VFD Drives, Soft Starters, and HMIs.
• Experience with PLC 5 and Control Logix Plc platforms.
• Experience with communication network protocols: ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet.
• Familiar with machine control systems; ability to troubleshoot issues.
• Identify the features and functions of controllers
• Describe and compare pneumatic and electronic controllers
• Identify the signal path through a control circuit
• Willing and able to work on an emergency call-in basis when required
• Must be self-motivated, honest and have high ethical standards
• Possess strong team building, communication, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in use of personal computers and MS Office Suite are required
• Is willing to work flexible hours based on business needs

Responsibilities

• Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other support staff to ensure production and quality standards are met
• Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop and educate key metrics
• Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, assisting with and verifying Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits)
• Perform and maintain counseling and coaching sessions along with performance evaluations for each direct report
• Schedule and assign daily tasks
• Work closely with the mill Planner to schedule electrical maintenance for the plant and set up and maintain a preventative maintenance plan.
• Support production & maintenance to ensure a quality panel is produced while maintaining a competitive cost.
• Supervise a team of electricians on a daily basis; perform evaluations, counseling and coaching sessions as needed for each member.
