Job description

The Phoenix Convention Center is a constantly operating and evolving facility that sees event activity year-round. Operating three convention buildings, three theater facilities (Symphony Hall, Herburger Theater, and the historic Orpheum Theatre), and five connected and free-standing parking garages, the Phoenix Convention Center Department provides a huge economic impact to the travel and tourism within the State of Arizona.

The Phoenix Convention Center Department is currently looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Electrical Maintenance Crew Chief to lead and supervise the facility's electrical maintenance team in the operation and maintenance of all the venues and facilities. This position is responsible for the identifying and planning repairs to the interior and exterior of the facility. This position will work with various groups and trades to coordinate necessary repair and maintenance activities. This position will work with the venue managers and various contractors to schedule and organize the shutdown of the facilities, power distribution systems for preventative maintenance.

The Electrical Maintenance Crew Chief will report to and receive direction from the Electrical Facilities Supervisor. The crew chief will work with the Electrician Leads to identify, plan and distribute work to the staff. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing written weekly reports, verbal communications, managing the work order system ensuring timely completion of all requests, and ensuring that all labor and timekeeping by staff is updated and accurate.

This position will work a 5 : 00 AM until 3 : 30 PM shift, either Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledge in asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (NFPA70E, MSDS, safety, and environmental).
  • Knowledge of and experience in commercial electrical systems and building codes.
  • Knowledge of lighting control systems and their components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

SALARY

Pay Range : $36.84 - $54.42 per hour.

Hiring Range : $36.84 - $47.01 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience as a skilled electrician,
  • and completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Working irregular hours, second and / or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
  • Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus :

  • One or more years of experience with / in :

Writing and managing technical service and commodities contracts.

  • Maintenance and repair of medium voltage distribution equipment.
  • Supervising electrical maintenance crews, include hiring, performance reviews, task assignments, discipline, and training.
  • Lighting and lighting control systems.
  • Experience with / in :
  • Industrial / Commercial electrical construction and maintenance practices.
  • Large generator, automatic transfer switch, and redundant power systems.
  • National electrical code, policies, and procedures specific to the electrical trade.
  • Use software applications such as : CMMS, work order systems, SharePoint, SAP, Microsoft Office programs as well as smart devices.
  • Electrical NFPA-70E safety program and practices.
  • Guest and customer service.
  • Developing training programs.
  • Proficient with / in :

The installation and repair of various lighting fixture types.

  • Reading blueprints and electrical construction drawings.
