Job summary

Amarillo ISD Maintenance seeks an Electrical Apprentice to support maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across district facilities. You will help ensure safe operation, assist on-site repairs, and participate in preventive maintenance while adhering to safety protocols.

Open until filled with immediate starting date; requires a high school diploma or GED and a Texas driver’s license, plus strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Texas driver's license required.
• Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring.
• Familiarity with electrical codes and ordinances.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Diagnose and resolve problems, use hand and power tools safely.
• Maintain logs and generate reports as needed.
• Operate tools safely and inspect items for proper dimensions.
• Adaptability to varied district facilities and environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems for the district.
• Maintain safe condition and operation of electrical systems and fixtures.
• Receive information and enter data to create work schedules.
• Assist with troubleshooting on-site repairs.
• Repair, maintain, and rebuild district-wide equipment.
• Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws.
• Prepare correspondence and work orders using prescribed formats.
• Review equipment performance specifications.
• Test repaired equipment for safety and manufacturer standards.
• Respond to emergency on-site repairs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and district policies.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisor and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with team and district staff as required.
