Job description

We seek resumes for Electrical Maintenance Apprentice (AD) in our Valdosta, GA. Paper Mill.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must work any assigned shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • At least two years of full- or part-time work in the last four years.
  • Must read, write, and speak in English.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a background check and mandatory drug screen.
Applicants Must Have One of the Following
  • A diploma from a technical college in industrial electrical or instrument maintenance.
  • Three years of service in the field of electrical or instrument maintenance (General electrical, instruments, DCS systems, PLC systems, AC/DC drive systems, LV/MV starters, prop distribution systems).
  • Three years of military service in the field of electrical or instrument maintenance.
  • Completed a comparable certified E&I Maintenance Apprentice Program.
Tests and Board Interview

Selected candidates must take a series of five written tests and attend a structured board interview.

Written Tests
  • Basic mechanical principles.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Ability to visualize three-dimensional figures.
  • Ability to compare numbers or patterns quickly and accurately.
  • Basic verbal ability.
Board Interview
  • Reviews of work history, achievements, knowledge and skill acquisition, interpersonal skills, task-related likes and dislikes, and physical demands experienced on previous jobs.
Post-Interview Assessment
  • Electrical aptitude.
  • Instrument aptitude.
  • Basic skills math.
  • Basic electrical knowledge placement.
  • Basic instrument knowledge placement.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Work with key mechanical, electrical, and process personnel to support daily and monthly maintenance outages as well as annual outage jobs.
  • Work with electrical maintenance/engineering and operations personnel to complete maintenance and capital projects.
  • Complete necessary programs and training, as indicated in the Electrical Maintenance Apprentice Program.
  • Support the Mills goals for safety, environmental, and other areas of need.
  • Utilize predictive and preventive electrical programs to identify and correct equipment issues.
  • Complete assigned work for daily, monthly, and annual outages.
  • Effectively complete assigned jobs for best results at lowest cost.
  • Identify opportunities to solve issues, reduce cost, and improve performance.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications

Pulp & Paper industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, within time constraints, multi-task, and build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem‑solving, ambiguity, and change.
  • Must work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Must read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.
  • Must apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety.
