Job summary

Valero in Port Arthur, TX, is seeking an Electrical Line Tech to join our refinery maintenance team. You will perform installations, mounts, and maintenance on high voltage components and operate boom and bucket trucks as part of day-to-day duties.

Requirements include two years of refinery electrical experience, live conductor work, and the ability to read blueprints and solve line-related issues on-site at the Port Arthur Refinery. A strong safety focus is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years refinery electrical experience as an Electrical Line Tech.
• Experience working on live conductors required.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics required.
• Experience troubleshooting aerial feeder problems required.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Port Arthur Refinery.

Responsibilities

• Install high voltage connectors, transformers and switches, securing equipment and cables.
• Mount hardware and perform maintenance on switches and other high line equipment.
• Operate boom trucks, bucket trucks, and other power-driven machinery.
• Remove broken or defective conductors and ensure routine preventive maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and perform other duties as assigned.

• Installs the following: high voltage connectors, transformers and switches, securing equipment and cables and various service lines, power poles, open phase systems and insulated systems, meters and metering devices.
• Mounts hardware.
• Performs maintenance on switches and other high line equipment.
• Operates boom trucks, bucket trucks, etc.
• Operates power-driven machinery such as hydraulic compression pumps, chain saws, etc.
• Removes broken or defective conductors.
• Ensures routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules.
• Performs all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, insuring that all tools and material are kept clean, orderly and in good working condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
