Job summary

Valero Energy in Port Arthur, TX is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Lineman to install and maintain high-voltage equipment at the refinery. The role requires working on live conductors and reading blueprints, with on-site duties and overtime eligibility.

You will perform maintenance on switches, install transformers, mounts, meters, and perform preventive tasks while keeping a clean, safe work environment. On-site hiring at Port Arthur with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years refinery electrical experience as an Electrical Line Tech.
• Experience reading blueprints & schematics; troubleshooting aerial feeder problems; live conductors experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs high voltage connectors, transformers, switches, securing equipment and cables and various service lines.
• Mounts hardware.
• Performs maintenance on switches and other high line equipment.
• Operates power-driven machinery such as hydraulic compression pumps, chain saws, etc.
• Ensures routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Makes sure the working environment remains clean, safe, and organized.

• Installs the following: high voltage connectors, transformers and switches, securing equipment and cables and various service lines, power poles, open phase systems and insulated systems, meters and metering devices.
• Mounts hardware.
• Performs maintenance on switches and other high line equipment.
• Operates power-driven machinery such as hydraulic compression pumps, chain saws, etc.
• Ensures routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules.
• Performs all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment, insuring that all tools and material are kept clean, orderly and in good working condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years refinery electrical experience, specifically as an Electrical Line Tech required.
• Experience working on live conductors required.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics required.
• Experience troubleshooting aerial feeder problems required.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Port Arthur Refinery, required.
