Job summary

States Manufacturing LLC is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to design electrical control systems for LV/MV switchgear assemblies and to support manufacturing as an engineering liaison. You will learn to use AutoCAD Electrical, interpret customer specs, and contribute to design reviews to ensure manufacturability.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering, 0–2 years of experience, and a strong interest in problem solving and cross-functional collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years designing electrical control systems for LV/MV switchgear are a plus.
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Entry-Level Electrical Engineer will design electrical control systems for safe, effective, and efficient operation of States Mfg. products and processes while meeting and exceeding company quality and production standards and customer documentation and delivery requirements. This role will also support manufacturing as an electrical engineering liaison, helping ensure designs are producible, manufacturable, and aligned with shop-floor capabilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Ideal candidate will have 02 years designing, or capable of designing, electrical product control systems for LV and MV switchgear assemblies, developing and implementing engineering standards, complying with applicable codes and customer specifications within a project management structure to ensure workflow remains within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements and receive directions from mentors to create designs.
  • Ability to learn to design using AutoCAD Electrical tools and libraries.
  • Improve the design process using standardized practices, tools and systems; improve the quality and productivity of the design and support process while reducing schedule and budget.
  • Evaluate and select electrical/electronic components for control systems, switchgear, panelboards, control panels.
Electrical Manufacturing & Engineering Liaison Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Panel Shop, and Production Supervisors to ensure electrical designs are safe, compliant, producible, manufacturable, and aligned with facility capabilities and constraints
  • Resolve technical issues arising during fabrication, wiring, assembly, or integration, escalating to senior engineers when needed.
  • Learn to evaluate how electrical design changes affect manufacturing schedules, wiring methods, tooling, workflows, and costs.
  • Participate in design reviews to support manufacturability and maintainability of electrical assemblies.
  • Support troubleshooting of building issues on the production floor; recommend rework under guidance and document updates accordingly.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing redlines, MRB dispositions, rework instructions, and updates to electrical drawings.
  • Interface with Engineering, QA, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to keep alignment on design intent, changes, and production priorities.
  • Contribute to improvements in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), wiring efficiency, panel layout optimization, quality, yield, and throughput.
  • Participate in Engineering Change processes by representing how design decisions impact the shop floor.
Additional Essential Functions
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and pursue continuous improvement of design and manufacturing and installation processes and methods.
  • Attend training, review documentation, procedures and work instructions.
  • Support new product development initiatives.
  • Preserve and grow strong relationships with States Mfg suppliers, manufacturers and vendors.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time and safely lift 40 lbs.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Ability to learn to design multi-phase and DC switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Support product assembly, manufacturing, and testing, including basic troubleshooting.
  • Provide project coordination and management for customer orders.
  • Develop product/project quotes.
  • Establish and maintain internal, customer, and supplier relationships.
  • Ability to learn Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to learn the use of electrical test equipment related to LV and MV products.
  • Ability to interpret or learn to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and components or ability to acquire quickly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and interest in supporting shop-floor teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred)
  • BS in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Coursework in electrical power systems a plus.
  • 02 years of engineering or technical experience.
  • Ability to learn to specify and design electrical power engineering equipment.
  • Ability to develop competencies across electrical, mechanical, and software design functions.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks PDM, or other CAD tools a plus.
  • Experience in renewables, energy markets, data centers, battery systems, stored energy, or charging stations a plus.
  • Familiarity or interest in IPC/WHMA wiring standards.
  • Interest in PLM, engineering change processes, and continuous improvement.
  • Any hands-on wiring, assembly, testing, or shop-floor experience is a plus.
  • Experience documenting issues across design, build, testing, or manufacturing, including root causes and corrective actions.
