Job summary

SB Energy is seeking an Electrical Lead for hyperscale data center projects in Texas. You will oversee electrical power infrastructure from construction through commissioning, ensuring designs meet performance, budget, and reliability requirements.

You will work with internal teams and external partners, mentor engineers, and drive budgets, schedules, and procurement for major equipment while maintaining safety and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10+ years of experience in electrical design, project engineering, or construction management.
• Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV distribution, backup power, and applicable codes.
• Experience coordinating with external engineering firms.
• Experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the electrical scope of work across multiple project phases, including concept design and closeout.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, utilities, and stakeholders on power strategies.
• Review design deliverables for compliance with standards.
• Serve as primary interface between internal teams and external consultants.
• Coordinate electrical scope with mechanical, structural, and commissioning teams.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and field clarifications.
• Act as Owner’s on-site electrical representative during construction.
• Monitor contractor performance for quality, safety, schedule, and cost.
• Participate in site inspections, testing, and progress meetings.
• Validate pay applications and change order pricing.
• Assist budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and procurement for major equipment.
• Support development of project schedules focusing on electrical milestones.

Basic Function:

Leadership of the datacenter construction team is committed to offering every team member an opportunity toengageyour core skills and knowledge, while helping each person develop new and valuable skills throughout the duration of the project.

The ElectricalLead is responsible for an managingall electrical power infrastructure aspects of hyperscale data center projects from construction through commissioning and turnover. This role ensures that electricalsystems aredesigned,constructed,tested, and commissioned to meet performancerequirements, project budgets, schedules, and long-term operational reliability.

This individual works cross-functionally with internal teams, external design partners, and construction stakeholders to translate design intent into successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the electrical scope of work across multiple project phases, including concept design, basis of design, detaileddesign, construction, and closeout.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, utility providers, and Owner stakeholders to define power strategies including:medium- and low-voltage distribution,backupgeneration systems, UPSsystems, and critical power architecture.
• Review and comment on design deliverables to ensure compliance with Owner standards and tenant-specific requirements.
• Serve as the primary interface between internal teams and external electrical engineering consultants
• Coordinate electrical scope with mechanical, structural, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless system integration. Review and manage electrical submittals, RFIs, change orders, and field clarifications.
• Serve as the Owner’s on-site electrical representative during construction.
• Monitorelectrical contractor performance for quality, safety, schedule, and cost compliance.
• Participatein site inspections, testing observations, and progressmeetings.
• Validate electrical pay applications and change order pricing.
• Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and procurement support for major electrical equipment.
• Support development and maintenance of project schedules, focusing on electrical milestones and long-lead equipment.
• Support commissioning activities including test procedures, system validation, and turnover documentation
• Coordinate with third-party commissioning agent, contractors, and operations teams.
• Identifyrisksrelatedto power delivery, procurement, or constructability and developmitigation strategies
• Mentor project engineers and support cross-disciplinary coordination.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineeringorequivalent.
• 5–10+ years of experience in electrical design, project engineering, or construction management
• Strong knowledge ofHV/MV/LVdistribution systems, backup power (generators/UPS),andNFPA, NEC, IEEE, and applicable local codes.

Location:

Site-based role in Borden County, Tx (Near Lubbock)

Base Pay - $115,000-$165,000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our teams. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
