Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
• 3+ years leading engineering, test, laboratory, or technical teams.
• Experience developing, operating, and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test environments.
• Experience in analog/digital electronics, or PCB design.
• Strong knowledge of system integration, verification and validation (V&V), test automation, and simulation-based testing methodologies.
• Experience supporting the development and certification of complex avionics, electrical, embedded software, or aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation, maintenance, and growth of HIL/SIL labs for aerospace programs.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of test and simulation engineers, lab technicians, and support staff.
• Define and execute verification and validation strategies for avionics, electrical, embedded, and integrated systems.
• Collaborate on planning, procurement, installation, calibration, and lifecycle management of lab equipment and simulation platforms.
• Set priorities, resources, schedules, and budgets to meet program milestones and commitments.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Manager, Electrical Labs (HIL/SIL), who leads the development, operation, and continuous improvement of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test environments supporting the design, integration, verification, and certification of aerospace systems. This leader drives engineering excellence while ensuring process maturity across the full engineering lifecycle. They partner closely with internal program organizations like avionics, integration and tests to understand their resource needs and constraints and deliver world-class engineering products. The role is responsible for managing laboratory infrastructure, test equipment, simulation platforms, and technical teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient validation of avionics, electrical, and embedded systems. The manager partners closely with engineering, program management, and certification stakeholders to execute verification strategies, resolve technical challenges, and meet program milestones. The position drives process excellence, lab modernization, and compliance with aerospace industry standards, while fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, systems engineering expertise, and hands-on experience with complex aerospace test and simulation environments. This position blends people leadership with hands-on technical insight to advance an industry benchmark Electrical Labs organization.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and strategic growth of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) laboratory environments supporting aerospace development programs.
• Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of test engineers, simulation engineers, lab technicians, and support personnel.
• Define and execute verification and validation (V&V) strategies for avionics, electrical, embedded, and integrated aerospace systems.
• Collaborate with programs on the planning, procurement, installation, calibration, and lifecycle management of lab equipment, test assets, and simulation platforms.
• Establish laboratory team priorities, resource allocation, schedules, and budgets to support program milestones and customer commitments.
• Collaborate with engineering, program management, quality, and certification teams to ensure test readiness and successful system integration.
• Drive development and automation of test frameworks, data acquisition systems, and simulation capabilities to improve efficiency and coverage.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, company procedures, safety requirements, and configuration management processes.
• Review and approve test plans, procedures, reports, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and audit readiness.
• Lead root cause investigations and resolution of test anomalies, hardware failures, software defects, and system integration issues.
• Collaborate with programs to identify opportunities for laboratory modernization, process improvement, and adoption of new technologies and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for HIL/SIL architecture, risk management, and verification activities across multiple programs.
• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated industries
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering, test, laboratory, or technical teams
• Experience developing, operating, and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test environments
• Experience in analog/digital electronics, or PCB design
• Strong knowledge of system integration, verification and validation (V&V), test automation, and simulation-based testing methodologies.
• Experience supporting the development and certification of complex avionics, electrical, embedded software, or aerospace systems.
• Track record of leading verification and validation activities for flight hardware or systems
