Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, or other high-reliability industries.
• 3+ years of technical leadership or people management experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in EMI/EMC, EEE Parts Engineering, Radiation Effects, Grounding & Bonding, or Mission Assurance.
• Experience supporting the design, development, qualification, and production of aerospace, spacecraft, avionics, or mission-critical hardware systems.
• Strong knowledge of applicable aerospace industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance practices.
• Proven ability to lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and corrective action activities.
• Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Electrical Specialties engineers.
• Establish technical strategy, priorities, and resource plans for programs.
• Oversee EMI/EMC analyses, testing, and qualification activities.
• Direct EEE parts selection, qualification, approval, obsolescence management, and failure review processes.
• Provide technical leadership for radiation effects assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Review and approve engineering analyses, requirements, specifications, test plans, and certification documentation.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and reduce risk.
• Support customer engagements, design reviews, audits, and technical presentations.
• Drive continuous improvement and adoption of industry best practices and standards.
• Manage budgets, schedules, staffing, and performance objectives.
• Recruit, mentor, develop and retain engineering talent fostering excellence.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, reliability and mission assurance.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Manager, Electrical Specialties, who leads a team of engineers responsible for ensuring the electrical integrity, reliability, and compliance of aerospace systems through expertise in Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC), EEE parts engineering, radiation effects, and related specialty disciplines. This leader drives engineering excellence while ensuring process maturity across the full engineering lifecycle. They partner closely with internal program organizations like avionics, integration and tests to understand their resource needs and constraints and deliver world-class engineering products. The role oversees technical strategy, risk management, qualification activities, and customer compliance requirements across spacecraft, avionics, and mission-critical hardware programs. The manager collaborates with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to drive design assurance and mission success while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical leadership with deep aerospace experience to develop innovative solutions, mentor engineering talent, and support the delivery of high-reliability systems. This position blends people leadership with hands-on technical insight to advance an industry benchmark Electrical Specialties organization.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage a team of Electrical Specialties engineers supporting EMI/EMC, EEE parts, radiation effects, grounding and bonding, and related reliability disciplines.
• Establish technical strategy, priorities, and resource plans to support spacecraft, avionics, payload, and aerospace system development programs.
• Oversee EMI/EMC analyses, testing, and qualification activities to ensure compliance with mission, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Direct EEE parts selection, qualification, approval, obsolescence management, and failure review processes for high-reliability applications.
• Provide technical leadership for radiation effects assessment, mitigation strategies, and component suitability for mission environments.
• Review and approve engineering analyses, requirements, specifications, test plans, and certification documentation.
• Partner with systems, hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams to resolve complex technical issues and reduce program risk.
• Support customer engagements, design reviews, audits, and technical presentations while serving as the subject matter expert for Electrical Specialties disciplines.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned integration, and implementation of industry best practices and standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, schedules, staffing, and performance objectives to ensure successful program execution.
• Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain engineering talent while fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with company, customer, and aerospace industry requirements for safety, quality, reliability, and mission assurance.
• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.
• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
