Job summary

South Louisiana Community College seeks an experienced instructor to teach electrical theory and wiring for residential and commercial settings. You will provide hands-on lab instruction with industry-standard tools and develop curricula aligned to NEC and licensing requirements.

The ideal candidate has a related degree and 2+ years of occupational experience, plus NCCER certification or equivalent before instruction begins. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree or higher with related occupational experience required.
• At least two years of directly related occupational experience if holding a bachelor's; or three years with an associate.
• NCCER Craft Instructor Certification or equivalent required before instruction start.
• Willingness to complete continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in electrical theory, residential/commercial wiring, NEC code, safety practices.
• Provide hands-on lab instruction using industry-standard tools and equipment.
• Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with industry standards (e.g., NEC).
• Develop and update course materials to align with current industry standards and licensing requirements.
• Prepare and provide course syllabi and instructional materials to students.
• Provide hands-on lab instruction and supervise student projects.
• Maintain student records, including attendance and grades, using LMS.
• Hold office hours for student consultations and academic support.
• Assist students with career planning and job placement.
