Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Intern for Summer 2027 to gain real-world experience in electrical design for buildings and sites. You will learn how electrical power and lighting integrate with broader engineering processes and contribute to construction document preparation under supervision.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an engineering program with strong problem-solving and communication skills, a 3.0+ GPA, and basic MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects and learn how electrical design integrates into the broader engineering process.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to assist in the design of electrical power and lighting systems for buildings and sites.
  • Support the preparation of construction documents and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in routine engineering tasks across various project phases, from concept through construction.
  • Engage with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professional development programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and project goals.

In the role of an Electrical Intern, we'll count on you to:



  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects and learn how electrical design integrates into the broader engineering process

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry(e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PTW, ETAP, AGi32, Visual)

  • Preference given to local candidates


Required Qualifications



  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program

  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
