Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Intern to gain real-world experience on building electrical power and lighting systems. You will learn how electrical design integrates into the broader engineering process and contribute under senior engineers' guidance.

You'll support construction documents, participate in project phases from concept through construction, and engage with mentors and leaders as part of HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Good communication abilities and basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience on projects and learn how electrical design integrates into the broader engineering process.
• Apply standard engineering techniques to assist in the design of electrical power and lighting systems for buildings and sites.
• Support the preparation of construction documents and specifications under guidance of senior engineers.
• Participate in routine engineering tasks across project phases from concept through construction.
• Engage with mentoring and young professional development programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and project goals.

In the role of an Electrical Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects and learn how electrical design integrates into the broader engineering process
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to assist in the design of electrical power and lighting systems for buildings and sites
• Support the preparation of construction documents and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers
• Participate in routine engineering tasks across various project phases, from concept through construction
• Engage with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professional development programs
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and project goals

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PTW, ETAP, AGi32, Visual)
• Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program

• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
