Job summary

Compensation Base Rate

$32 - $42 per hour (starting rate based on experience). Shift differential not included.

Your Opportunity

Lead and contribute in meaningful ways at our new greenfield McCalla, AL facility, producing popular Uncrustables sandwiches and developing new products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the manufacture of consumer foods that comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand and support company and site safety policies and perform work-related activities safely.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Studio5000 or Logix5000 platforms, Drives and Motion Control, FactoryTalk ME & SE, Ethernet/IP Control Network, Power Distribution.
  • Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment.
  • Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a GMP environment.
  • Perform equipment changeovers, sanitation activities, preventive maintenance tasks, work orders, and lubrication to maximize plant equipment performance.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
  • Utilize drawings, prints, and instruction manuals for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification, and repair.
  • Participate in training and qualification programs; maintain consistent qualification standards.
  • Use continuous improvement tools to eliminate breakages and root cause issues; document, communicate, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Serve as owner of technical, safety, or quality systems; build technician skills and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Create documentation as needed (SOPs, job aids, PM improvements, etc.).
  • Attend technical training sessions, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance activities to advance E&I technology expertise.
  • Obtain and maintain low voltage qualification within twelve months of start date.
  • Use a computer to input and maintain accurate records and data.
  • Maintain an accurate electronic database of repair and maintenance activities, including parts usage and time tracking.
  • Facilitate effective shift pass‑downs to discuss safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Lead projects to improve safety, quality, or production results.
  • Work as part of a team and assist teammates when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And/Or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to work Day Shift 6:00am-6:30pm or Night Shift 6:00pm-6:30am.
  • Associate’s or technical degree or training preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, device and information networks, sensors, and instrumentation equipment for manufacturing required.
  • Previous mechanical/maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
Language Skills
  • Read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Use a computer to input data required for production.
  • Give and receive feedback effectively.
Reasoning Ability
  • Perform critical thinking to problem‑solve and resolve conflicts.
Physical Demands
  • Work 12‑hour shifts, days or nights.
  • Lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, and climb.
  • Perform repetitive actions, reach, and feel.
Vision
  • Minimum 20/40 vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses; applicant must pass a standard eye exam.
Safe Performance Requirements
  • Must perform essential job functions consistently with safety standards, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
  • Work both independently and on a team.
  • Willing to work 12‑hour shifts and overtime as needed.
  • 2-2-3 schedule, days or nights.
  • Willing to travel for training.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, schematics, power distribution, controls, PLC logic, HMIs, and industrial controls.
  • Provide leadership, prioritize, set goals, and meet deadlines.
  • Apply data‑driven decisions and engage others appropriately.
  • Basic math, statistics, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Learn company‑specific computer systems, including maintenance enterprise system.
