Job summary

Greenpoint Technologies in Washington state seeks an experienced electrical design engineer to develop electrical installations for aircraft interiors, including wire routing and harnesses, ensuring Fit, Form and Function while meeting FAA requirements and project schedules.

The role uses CAD tools (AutoCAD and Inventor) to create drawings, select materials, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Mechanical, Stress, Manufacturing and Certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Electrical; minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor for 3D electrical design.
  • Able to travel and work cross-functionally with other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Creates electrical installation design solutions for aircraft interior using CAD tools.
  • Develops drawing lists for wire and electrical equipment installations.
  • Selects materials based on electrical requirements and specifications; evaluates trade-offs.
  • Ensures designs meet customer criteria, quality standards and FAA requirements.
  • Understands Bills of Materials and fabrication specifications.
  • Adheres to budget and project schedules.
  • Provides design guidance to other engineering personnel.

Creates electrical design solutions for aircraft interiors, including wire routing, harnesses and equipment installations, ensuring Fit, Form and Function to meet customer criteria, quality standards, FAA requirements, budget and project schedules using Computer Aided Drafting/Design tools.

  • Creates electrical installation design solutions for aircraft interior, including wire routing, harnesses, and equipment installations using Computer Aided Drafting/Design tools, ensuring Fit, Form and Function.
  • Creates a drawing list of assigned wire and / or electrical equipment installations for project level STC.
  • Selects materials for electrical installations based on electrical requirements and materials specifications. Evaluates trade-offs in materials, composites, coatings, and other selections to best meet design objectives. Works with materials suppliers and material testing when needed.
  • Ensures electrical designs meet customer criteria, quality standards and FAA requirements.
  • Understands Bills of Materials, assembly concepts, fabrication specifications.
  • Adheres to budget and project schedules.
  • Provides design guidance and feedback to other engineering personnel.
  • Provides liaison engineering support to resolve build and installation issues.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Stress, Manufacturing, and Certification.
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary Of Education, Experience & Certification

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Aerospace or Electrical, minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aviation background and aircraft interior experience preferred. Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to check electrical engineering drawings for Fit, Form and Function.
  • Strong Computer Aided Drafting/Design skills using AutoCAD and/or Inventor.
  • Three dimensional (3D) design/drafting skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry design and documentation standards.
  • Proficient in installation drawings, harness assemblies and the installation of electrical equipment.
  • Understands wire diagrams, schematics, system block diagrams and topologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Time-management and organizational skills.
  • Experience adhering to budget and project schedules.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.

The expected WA salary range for this position is between $90,000.00 - $124,000.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
