Electrical Inspector - Product Certification, Remote Full-Time, Des Moines, IA and surrounding area

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification) Services, seeks a Remote Full-Time Electrical Inspector to join our Electrical team in Des Moines, IA, and surrounding areas. This role offers a great opportunity to develop a career in Electrical Product Certification.

This is a remote position; applicants must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Our Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for various electrical products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, ICT, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission equipment. Our experts ensure product quality, safety, and sustainability globally.

With over 100 years of expertise, Intertek helps clients meet safety, performance, environmental, and quality standards across industries such as Medical, Lighting, Renewable Energy, HVACR, and more. We operate a global network of laboratories committed to delivering accurate testing and certification, supporting product success worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and conducting surveillance inspections according to schedule.
  • Documenting manufacturer’s production and quality processes, including testing methods and calibration.
  • Inspecting ETL Listed products and components per certification documents, reviewing labels, non-compliances, and selecting samples.
  • Reporting compliance issues and advising clients on resolutions.
  • Completing and submitting follow-up inspection reports.
  • Facilitating communication between facility representatives and Intertek personnel.
  • Managing expenses within guidelines.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years related experience; associate degree with 5+ years; bachelor’s degree with 1+ year.
  • Experience in electrical testing, quality assurance, manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Reliable internet access.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and safety standards.
  • Understanding of Quality Control methods like ISO 9000/14000, Six Sigma, Lean, SPC.
Compensation & Benefits

The salary range is $30-$42 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, parental leave, health plans, 401(k) with match, tuition reimbursement, and more.
