Commonwealth of Kentucky's Public Protection Cabinet - Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction seeks an Electrical Inspector to ensure adherence to electrical codes during construction and inspection of installations statewide.

The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, Electrical Inspection Section inspects buildings and oversees the licensing of electricians and electrical contractors, certification of electrical inspectors, and educational programs in the administration and enforcement of electrical codes and standards.

EDUCATION: High School Graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must possess a Kentucky Master Electrician License obtained through examination. OR Must have eight years of experience in the electrical trade; OR Be a registered electrical engineer engaged in that profession for at least three (3) years.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Certification as a certified Electrical Inspector General will substitute for the required experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
Frequent travel is expected to perform inspections. Exposure to dangers and hazards associated with electricity.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
