Position Purpose
The Specialty Trades Pro Sales Representative builds strong relationships with Pro customers and executes a sales strategy to profitably grow sales for assigned accounts, supporting the organization’s goals and increasing market share. The role requires advanced expertise in one or more specialty trade categories, delivering high‑level technical knowledge and tailored solutions to meet professional customer needs. Responsibilities include managing the full sales cycle of a designated specialty trade portfolio, identifying opportunities, managing a pipeline, achieving sales goals, gross margin targets, prospecting and engaging B2B customers, negotiating projects, and resolving issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- 10% - Customer Review and Development: Engage with sales leadership to review calls, provide insights and sales plan opportunities. Participate in product knowledge training, process improvements, and strategic initiatives. Provide SME guidance and technical trade training to the Pro Sales team.
- 30% - Inbound Customer Engagement and Sales Growth: Resolve order and delivery issues with the support team, investigate problems, develop scalable solutions, transact and tender when necessary, and follow up on completed orders for feedback.
- 60% - Outbound Customer Engagement and Sales Growth: Research accounts, identify key players, generate interest, achieve prospecting and sales goals, source new opportunities through inbound lead follow‑up and outbound calling, drive incremental sales growth, execute strategy by introducing customers to capabilities, and build long‑term partnerships through custom solutions.

Travel Requirements
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time
Physical Requirements
- Most of the time sitting in a comfortable position and frequent opportunity to move about. Rarely may need to move or lift light items.
Working Conditions
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 4+ years of experience within relevant specialty trade industry (e.g. plumbing, electrical, paint, HVAC) with specific experience in product knowledge, installation, retail sales, or inside/outside sales for specific trade.
- Construction experience – either practical on‑the‑job experience or sales within the construction industry
- Understanding and application of strategic sales planning to identify, target and execute sales growth plans in areas of expertise.
- Proven inside sales or telephone sales experience
- Ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with both internal and external customers
- Highly motivated
- Experience working with Salesforce.com or similar CRM
