Job summary

Radiant is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer, HIL in El Segundo, CA to own the electrical architecture and testing framework for Kaleidos, our 1 MW portable microreactor heading to deployment in 2028.

You will drive end-to-end electrical integration from architecture and requirements through hardware bring-up, testing, and commissioning, collaborating across mechanical, software, and systems engineering.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; MS preferred.
• 8+ years in hardware, controls, or test systems with design and validation.
• 5+ years building hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and integration.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the HIL platform from ground up, including plant simulation and real hardware in the loop.
• Design, build, and maintain electrical test infrastructure as a core asset.
• Define electrical and software integration requirements across power, sensors, actuators, and simulation.
• Manage the communication layer between hardware, control systems, and software protocols.
• Define and drive electrical validation strategy and test procedures.
• Oversee schedule, budget, and vendor management for electrical work.
• Drive automation and tooling improvements affecting testing approaches.
• Lead design reviews and decisions across electrical, embedded, software, and controls.
