Job summary

SPATCO in Sanford, FL is seeking an Electrical Helper to support the assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment in petroleum projects. You will join a team and may travel for assignments.

The role offers in-house training to advance in construction and electrical work, requires a high school diploma or GED and 2–3 years as an electrical apprentice, knowledge of codes, and strong communication. You must be able to lift 75–100 lbs and work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers, petroleum pumps, dispensers, POS consoles, tank monitors and lighting.
• Inspect electrical systems to verify safety and code compliance; verify proper operation.
• Advise management, customers and employees when hazards are present and when systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost and labor allowances.

Job description

The electrical helper will work on a variety of constructions jobs. This position will work within a team and may be required to travel out of town.

In this position the electrical helper will be eligible to attend our in-house training programs to advance their current understanding of the construction and/or electrical industry.

Job Duties:

• Assist in the assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers, petroleum pumps, dispensers, Point of Sale consoles, tank monitors and petroleum lighting.
• Inspect electrical system and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements. Verify proper operation of the electrical system.
• Advise management, customers and employees when hazards are present and when electrical systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimator with material take-off, material cost and labor allowances.

Experience, Competencies and Education:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 to 3 years working as an apprentice with an electrical company, no journeyman card needed
• Knowledge of Electrician standards & codes required
• Detail oriented
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to lift 75 –100 lbs when necessary during the course of performing their necessary duties.
• Work outside in all types of weather.
• Work under time constraints efficiently and have the ability to work well with others.
