Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington State is seeking an Electrical Cable Harness Design Engineer to shape the wiring architecture for spacecraft test beds and lunar vehicles. You will design harnesses for power distribution, RF, and high-speed data, and guide installation and integration across the full life cycle.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 2+ years’ experience designing Wire Harnesses.
• 2+ years’ experience creating schematics, SID/BID/WID.
• Experience in configuration management cycle of harness drawings.
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620A.
• Strong CAD skills; CREO and Zuken knowledge preferred.
• Experience designing harnessing for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aircraft is desired.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering and system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), and wiring interconnect diagrams (WID).
• Integration and installation of electrical harnesses for power, RF, and high‑speed data signals.
• Create 3D routed harness data files using CAD software and support hardware installation.
• Provide technical guidance for harness fabrication, testing, and life cycle support.
• Support HIL test beds and lab infrastructure (racks, harnesses).

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will design and develop harnesses to support the Lunar Lander Vehicle Test Bed (VTB), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test beds and component testers. In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will support the development, design, and operation of vehicle test bed for system level testing. Responsibilities

Developing the engineering, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID). Integration and installation of electrical harnesses As an electrical Cable Harness Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal, selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire. Also understanding and application of EMI/RFI and harness shielding. Creation of 3D routed harness data files utilizing 3D CAD software. The design and integration of harness support brackets, support design configuration development and trade studies, provide technical guidance for hardware installation. You will support the team developing the harness assemblies across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition, design, analysis, design review, manufacture, test and through release to production. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Support the design and build of the HIL test beds with a focus on the lab infrastructure (Racks, Harnesses).

Qualifications

B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical subject area 2+ years’ experience designing Wire Harnesses. 2+ years’ experience in Creating schematics, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID) Experience in configuration management cycle of harness drawings. Understanding and application of wire derating analysis Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A. Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software, preferred CREO, Zuken Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes. Experience designing and integrating electrical harnessing for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aircraft is desired. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: Experience with ZUKEN E3 software. Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.

Base Pay Range

Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40
