Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Harness Engineer for a contract role in Louisville, KY. The ideal applicant has a solid background in wire harness design and development.

You will design harness systems, create schematics with Creo Schematic, define routing, select components, and ensure safety and regulatory standards. This hands-on position partners with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to support prototypes, testing, and production rollout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering.
• Strong experience in wire harness design and development.
• Experience creating electrical schematics using Creo.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop wire harness systems for consumer appliance applications.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics using Creo Schematic.
• Define wire harness architecture, routing paths, interconnections, and electrical interfaces.
• Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, protective coverings, and electrical components.
• Ensure designs meet applicable safety, regulatory, and performance standards.
• Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and production implementation.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams on the shop floor to troubleshoot electrical and harness-related issues.
• Provide technical guidance to CAD designers responsible for detailed 2D and 3D harness drawings.
• Evaluate harness manufacturability and implement design improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for harness-related failures.
• Support cable termination, crimping processes, connector selection, and assembly requirements.
• Develop and review engineering documentation, BOMs, specifications, and design changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
