M Force Partners is seeking an experienced Electrical Harness Design Engineer to design and develop electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, adapters, and vehicle connectivity solutions for automotive and powersports applications. This position will support products from initial concept through prototype development, testing, validation, and production release.
The ideal Electrical Harness Design Engineer has hands‑on experience designing wiring harnesses or vehicle electrical systems and a strong understanding of connectors, terminals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness manufacturing. This individual will collaborate with product development, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and other engineering teams to develop reliable and manufacturable electrical products.
This Electrical Harness Design Engineer role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands‑on product development and wants to contribute directly to new automotive electrical products from design through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical wiring harnesses, vehicle‑specific harnesses, adapters, and cable assemblies
- Develop new electrical products from initial concept through production release
- Translate customer requirements and technical specifications into reliable and manufacturable harness designs
- Create electrical schematics, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation
- Select appropriate connectors, terminals, wire, cable, protective components, and other electrical hardware
- Build and evaluate prototype wiring harnesses for laboratory and vehicle testing
- Support short‑run and prototype production builds as required
- Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Support Design Verification Testing (DVT) and validation of prototype and production samples
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and support root cause investigations
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to improve harness manufacturability and production processes
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve quality, cost, reliability, and production efficiency
- Develop and maintain prototype, testing, and production workstations
- Provide technical guidance regarding electrical harness design and manufacturing best practices
- Assist with installation manuals, technical documentation, and product support materials
- Provide technical troubleshooting support to internal teams and customers
- Collaborate with domestic and international engineering and manufacturing teams
- Identify opportunities to improve electrical product performance, engineering standards, and development processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Professional experience designing electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, or vehicle electrical systems
- Experience with SolidWorks, Arcadia CAD, or similar electrical/harness design software
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of wire, connectors, terminals, cable assemblies, and electrical components
- Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
- Understanding of wiring harness manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience supporting prototype development, testing, and product validation
- Knowledge of DFMEA or structured product development methodologies
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other cross‑functional teams
- Ability to work onsite in Exeter, RI
Preferred Qualifications
- On‑road, off‑road, or powersports electrical systems experience
- Vehicle lighting or accessory electrical system experience
- Electrical harness manufacturing experience
- Design for Manufacturability experience
- Experience with electrical testing and validation
- Supplier collaboration and new product launch experience
- Experience developing products from concept through production
Travel
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to support suppliers, customers, manufacturing partners, engineering teams, trade shows, or product development activities.
