Job summary

Petroplan in Salt Lake City seeks a field engineer to perform inspections, testing oversight and commissioning support for 15kV-38kV medium-voltage equipment across power distribution facilities. You will review reports and act as the client's technical representative in the field, identifying deficiencies and risks.

Ideal candidates hold an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree and have experience with power generation, substations, or large-scale infrastructure projects involving MV

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree.
• Experience with medium-voltage (15kV–38kV) equipment.
• Experience reviewing commissioning reports, test results, and quality documentation.
• Ability to act as client's technical representative in the field.
• Experience coordinating with engineering, construction, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections, testing oversight, and commissioning support for 15kV-38kV equipment.
• Review commissioning reports, test results, punch lists, and technical docs for compliance.
• Serve as the client's field technical representative and identify deficiencies or risks.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to troubleshoot electrical issues and support energization.
• Support startup and commissioning activities for large MV systems.

Job description

• Perform field inspections, testing oversight, and commissioning support for 15kV-38kV medium-voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, breakers, protection systems, and associated power distribution infrastructure.
• Review commissioning reports, test results, punch lists, and technical documentation to verify compliance with project specifications, design standards, and quality requirements.
• Serve as the client's technical representative in the field, providing independent assessment of contractor and commissioning activities and identifying deficiencies or risks.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to troubleshoot electrical issues and support successful system energization and startup.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with experience in power generation, transmission, substations, industrial facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects involving medium-voltage systems.
