Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced engineer to provide field support on a large-scale semiconductor plant project in New Albany, OH. You will assist superintendents and craft professionals, help meet cost and time targets, and verify materials, equipment, and quality throughout installation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply drawings, specifications, inspections, quality verification, and subcontracts.
  • Prepare quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment; initiate field requisitions.
  • Review construction drawings and schedules; verify temporary facilities design and ensure as-built drawings.
  • Assist engineers and superintendents in interpreting drawings, monitoring equipment installation, and planning delivery of materials.
  • Coordinate with engineering design on constructability issues; supervise subcontractors and manage changes.
  • Review cost engineering studies, schedules, and budgets; analyze activities for scope, time, and resources.
  • Ensure vendor bids conform to specifications; work with functions to meet environmental, safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.

Project Overview:

the company is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. the company will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.

the company will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide engineering assistance to superintendents and craft professionals, assist in meeting cost and time schedules, and verify materials, equipment, and quality. Role will be directly responsible for Installation Quality Verification and Installation Quantity Verification.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the activities assigned, such as the application of drawings, specifications, inspections, quality verification, and subcontracts. • Preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment. Initiates requisitions for field purchases as needed. • Review of construction drawings and schedules; verifies design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans. • Assists fellow construction engineers and superintendents in: interpreting design drawings, monitoring equipment installation and planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment and assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure environmental protection. • Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data. • Coordinates with engineering design on constructability issues. Supervises subcontractor work efforts and administers routine subcontract changes and interfaces with client personnel. • Reviews, as assigned, the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, schedules, and budgets. • Analyzes assigned construction activities to determine the scope, time, and resource requirements. • Ensures that vendors' bids for material and equipment are in conformance to specifications. • Works with various functions to ensure the project achieves corporate goals set for environmental, safety & health, quality, cost, and schedule.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes. • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment. • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the the company Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility Familiar with the company's Business Ethics handbook and policies. • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors Knowledge of the company's "Zero Accents" safety program. • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current the company Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
