Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of the Kokomo facilities. You will be the site electrical SME, partnering with maintenance, construction, operations, contractors, suppliers, and utility providers.

Responsibilities include leading electrical safety, MV systems, lockout/energy control, and substation maintenance, while providing daily technical support and coordinating maintenance, vendor and construction activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience with industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems, substations, or utility infrastructure.
• Experience with electrical design, maintenance, operations, and project execution.
• Experience with low-voltage power distribution.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage work involving contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical safety, Electrical Safe Work Practices, medium-voltage, lockout/energy control, and substation maintenance activities.
• Provide daily technical support to electricians, maintenance teams, construction partners, and plant operations.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance, vendor support, construction activities, and electrical improvement projects.
• Own electrical safety, machine guarding, and lockout/energy control audit performance, including gap assessments and corrective actions.
• Support utility reliability, power quality, distribution issues, service interruptions, and root-cause analysis.
• Manage assigned projects, suppliers, contractors, budgets, schedules, and Project Delivery Tool requirements.
• Develop asset sustainment plans and support facility condition assessments.
• Maintain accurate electrical drawings, CADD files, as-built documentation, and project records.
• Support safety audits, observation tours, site meetings, emergency-light inspections, and other compliance activities.
