Job summary

Shelby Electric is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects. You will evaluate bid documents, perform quantity takeoffs, and develop labor and material costs while soliciting vendor pricing.

The role requires reading complex drawings, understanding NEC and local codes, and collaborating with project teams to ensure profitable work and a smooth transition from estimating to execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years electrical estimating experience.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, architectural plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete labor and material estimates.
• Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and local building codes.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to document assumptions and present estimates to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive, and complete cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor and material costs.
• Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing and manage bids.
• Identify project risks and support preconstruction activities.
• Collaborate with project executives, operations teams, and clients to ensure smooth handoff to execution.
