Salary: $80,000-$155,000

Summary

An electrical estimator reviews drawings and specifications to accurately determine labor costs for electrical construction projects. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for drafting detailed proposal letters, effectively communicating decisions, and completing comprehensive estimates. This role involves budgeting and cost estimating, managing multiple bids simultaneously, and adapting to various project sizes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Data Acquisition and Organization: Download project documents, organize estimate files, set up Accubid and Live Count, and identify gaps requiring attention.
  2. Support Project Manager: Manage documentation, assist with change orders, facilitate communication with field teams and clients, and oversee task finances including forecasting work progress and monitoring project logs.
  3. Estimate Development and Review: Produce accurate takeoffs and estimate entries, review quotes/subcontracts, summarize estimates, and draft proposal letters. Review scope with customers and estimate 'comeback' items.
  4. Scope Definition and Clarification: Review project documents, specifications, and bid forms. Prepare and submit RFIs proactively to define the scope of work.
  5. Acquiring Quotes and Subcontracts: Organize bid packages, deliver them to the purchasing department, and respond to vendor questions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from electrical apprenticeship school.
  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical construction industry experience, including 3-4 years in commercial electrical estimating.
  • Electrician license.
  • Ability to thoroughly estimate time and materials based on CAD drawings and specifications.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Accubid or similar software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
